Monday, April 22 – Science Earth Day – Paper, Paper, Paper!! We love paper! We use it for everything from coloring pages to wrapping paper. But do you know where paper comes from? We will learn how paper is made and how we can help our Earth by reusing and recycling it. We will end by making our own paper from used scraps! So fun!

Monday, April 8 – GOD’s Creation!! This month we will celebrate God’s beautiful Earth and how we can take care of it. We conduct experiments that show what happens when we pollute our Earth but end with ways God gives us to help our Earth (The 3-R’S- REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLING)!

Monday, February 26 – ScienceWorms are Wonderful! We will learn about these cool, hard working creatures that live underground. What are they and how do they help make things grow? We will carefully check out real earthworms and study them during this hands-on time of exploration.

Tuesday, February 27 – ArtPointillism – painting with dots of color. We will read the book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds and discuss what we can use to make dots. Then we will use paint with q-tips and dabbers to create pointillism art.

Thursday, February 29 – SpanishEmotions – Hola! This week we will learn about our sentimentos en Espanol. We will read “Yo me Siento asi” then we will learn the vocabulary for different emotions. Then we will draw faces for the emotions on a sentimentos activity to take home.

Tuesday, February 20 – ArtName Writing Scratch Art In art enrichment this week we will use our names as inspiration to create art. We will read the book “My Name Is Johari – BIG BOOK” by Anne O’Brien and discuss our names and practice writing them on a dry-erase board. Then we will use special tools and rainbow scratch paper to strengthen our fine-motor muscles and create art with our names.

We will practice counting to 7 and then review the days of the week then sing “Siete Dias De La Semana” By Jack Hartman. Then we will practice cutting circles to create a “los dias de la semana” caterpillar.

Monday, February 12 – ScienceValentine’s Day Heart Science – Today we will learn about your heart, how it keeps your blood flowing and how you can keep it healthy. We will also get to make our own blood model slime!!

Tuesday, February 13 – ArtTie-Dye Hearts In art enrichment this week we will use tools to create Valentine’s Day art. We will read the book “Mouse’s First Valentine” by Lauren Thompson and discuss how we have the fruit of the spirit when we show love. Then we will use droppers and water colors to create a tie-dye heart keepsake.

Tuesday, February 6 – ArtChinese New Year Celebration – In art enrichment this week we will learn about the celebration of Chinese new year and create art using this inspiration. We will read the book “Lion Dancer – Ernie Wan’s Chinese New Year“ by Kate Waters and discuss multicultural traditions and art then decorate paper to make lanterns.

Monday, January 29 – ScienceOil & Water– What happens when we mix oil and water together? Will opposites attract? We will do a fun experiment to see what happens and then create beautiful science art!

Tuesday, January 30 – Art – Rainbow Collage – We will read the book “A Color of His Own“ by Leo Lionni and discuss how just like art, we are all beautiful and unique. We will use glue and tissue paper squares to create a rainbow mosaic collage. Once we are done we will read “The Mixed Up Chameleon” by Eric Carle.

Monday, January 22 – Science – Vinegar, Baking Soda & Shaving Cream???!!? Join us as we combine art and science in this fun activity using baking soda, vinegar, and shaving cream creating chemical reactions, beautiful colors, and “exploding snow”!

Tuesday, January 23 – ArtClay Snowman Sculpture – We will continue with a winter theme. We will read the books “Clay Art” by Pamela Chenko and discuss sculpting and materials we can use to sculpt. We will measure and mix to make our own clay then practice rolling balls with it to create snowman sculptures after we will read “Winter Rabbit“ by Patrick Yee.

Thursday, January 25 – SpanishMi Familia! Hola! This week we will learn about how to talk about our family in Espanol. We will learn new vocabulary for family members and practice saying hello and goodbye to these people. We will read “La Sia De Pedro” by Ezra Jack Keats then draw a family portrait and color in a mini book “La Familia”.

During our time outside, we will create imitation “snow” in a sensory bin then go inside to read “Sneezy the snowman “ By Maureen Wright. Then we will create art by cutting paper and using paint to create a melted snowman portrait.

Thursday, January 18 – SpanishMe Gusta! Hola! This week we will work on conversations in Espanol. We will learn how to say “I like …” & “I don’t like …” in Spanish. During our time outside we will review our colors and action verbs (sing, dance, play etc.) We will watch a short video called Me Gusta (I like it) By Sesame Street (3:01 mins). Then we will make a collage of pictures with things we like and dislike.

Monday, January 8 – ScienceMAGICAL SALT!! Did you know Salt can be used for more than just seasoning our food?!? Today we will explore where salt comes from, what it is made of, and why it is such an important mineral.

Tuesday, January 9 – Art Peace Handprint Art – We will learn about why we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day and read “We Are A Rainbow“ by Nancy Tabor. Then we will create a multimedia craft by ripping colorful tape, cutting out our handprints and then gluing them together on cardstock to create a peace sign collage.

Wednesday, December 13 – Spanish – Small, Medium and Large – We will review our previous vocabulary and work on our conversational Spanish. We will read “Rubia and the Three Osos” by Susan Middleton Elya and practice sorting familiar items by grande, mediano and chico.

Tuesday, November 7 – Art – We will learn about cooking as an art! We will read the book “Every Cake has a Story” by Christina Tosi and Emma Balsley and then talk about how chefs can use ingredients to create art.  Each child will decorate a paper bag and then add together simple ingredients to make their own trail-mix!

Monday, October 30 – Super Science – Geodes and Rocks – we got to explore different rocks and geodes and about the 3 different types of rocks (sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic).

Tuesday, October 31 – Art – Playdough Pumpkins – We will read the book “Red Lead, Yellow Leaf” by Lois Ellhert and then talk about the colors of Fall.  Each child will then mix together simple ingredients to make their own orange playdough.

Monday, September 25 – Super Science – Solids & Liquids – Can something be a solid and a liquid at the same time? Join us for this fun chemistry experiment as we explore what happens when we mix cornstarch and water. We will make ooey gooey slime! We will enjoy hands on fun as we explore the properties of this interesting mixture.

Tuesday, September 26 Art – Rainbows – This week in Art enrichment we will be getting creative using paper and glue to create a rainbow! Our Jr. Artists will hear about the rainbow God sent Jonah after the great flood read from the Jesus Storybook Bible and then we will build our fine-motor skills and rip up paper to create a mosaic rainbow.

Wednesday, September 27 Introduction to Spanish – Greetings Continued Hola! This week we will continue to explore greeting one another using our Spanish vocabulary. We will be learning different salutations that are used at different times of the day!

Thursday, September 28 – Garden Club – Let’s learn about Sunflowers! We will read the book “This is the Sunflower” by Lola M. Schaefer.  We will plant sunflowers in the garden.  We will cut and color a sheet defining parts of plants.

Monday, September 18 – Super Science – Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! We will be learning about the world of incredible insects! We will use books, hands on activities and have the opportunity to observe live crickets with our magnifying glasses. Please join us to explore these interesting insects!

Tuesday, September 19 Art – This week in Art enrichment we will be doing an introduction to art and being an artist. We will be discussing the art of God’s Creation and what materials we use as artists then read “I am an Artist” by Marta Altes. We will then use watercolors, markers and crayons to create art and let our imaginations guide us in creating a multimedia masterpiece.

Wednesday, September 20 Introduction to Spanish – Hola and welcome to Spanish Enrichment Hour! We are so excited to meet one another as the school year begins. This week we will focus on introducing ourselves and greeting our friends in Spanish!

Thursday, September 21 – Garden Club – What kind of weather do we need for our garden to grow? What are your favorite fruits and vegetables? What should we plant in our garden? We will read the books about the garden and will explore different seeds. We will also have a vegetable craft!
